Selfies on Sunday...

A super natural look from this past Sunday... I glammed the look up a little bit with a winged liner and a full nude lip. You could play this look up or down depending on your comfort level or what you  have to do for the day. Adding some false lashes would step up the look or just a natural liner instead of the winged would be a way to tone it down. I hope you enjoy!!!

The beautiful thing about makeup for me is that I can use it to transform or enhance a person's true beauty for any occasion. Inner Beauty is the real tool that most people over look. If you are having a bad day or feel a bit down that usually translates all over your face. On the other hand if its a great day for whatever reason people will know because its plastered on your face even without you trying...makeup or no makeup.

When my girlfriends call me and are planning to go out, but aren't feeling great about themselves, whether is guy related, or body related or no one even knows whats wrong related.... I always tell them this.... Grab your favorite pair of jeans... the ones that make you feel like strutting. Thrown on a cute top that you are comfortable in.... a nice pair of heels or boots.... and then as many coats of mascara as you can stand and a fabulous lip stick. End result, you feel like a new woman.

Makeup can only make the outside of your self different, and sometimes just throwing on your favorite blush or lip gloss can turn your day around.

I love being a makeup artist. I love showing women different skills and tools that are game changers for them and seeing the look on their face when I'm done.

I know I have succeeded in a trial or an application when the demeanor of my client shifts, you can instantly see the confidence over flowing out of them. They get a little swag in their step and I love this reaction!

I know I feel truly beautiful when I feel good... so whether its on a day where the only thing I have on my face is  some moisturizer or on a date night with my hubs and I got the false lashes rocking... it all comes from the inside, Makeup can push us in the right direction on a bad day, but in the end how we feel is the true ingredient in self beauty.

Throw Back Thursday ...

Back in July I got to work with some really beautiful and fun women on a photo shoot for a great store in Allston, MA. Designers Circus is a fun shop for women that ... in their own words from their website.
"Designers Circus.
The Circus is as its name implies, a Circus of customers, customers as employees, designers, all friends, creating an experience for each other privately and inviting people in to the secret. It exists in New England but its known worldwide. Its a place, but its a philosophy and mindset too.
The Designers Circus is an under the radar clothing event, a sample sale, a warehouse sale, a pop up store, a guerilla store, and an experience in "social shopping" all in one. Thus began another shared journey, the journey of the Designers Circus."

With the holidays approaching I thought you might be in the market for some great clothes and want to support a local business check out Kathleen's shop, 1 Braintree St, AllstonMA. They also have a couple other locations as well.

58 Fore St
PortlandME 04101-4829

and

29 Soundview RdGuilfordCT 06437-2937

They do an annual photo shoot for all their holiday post cards that they send out over the year. So even though it was a few weeks into July it was fun to do makeup for a year round project. Here are a few looks from the shoot. I had such beautiful models to work with. They were all employees of Designers Circus and they had such great energy... it was a pleasure to spend a Sunday afternoon shooting with these women in the seaport area.

Women Who Inspire are Contagious

About a month ago I got to work with an amazing woman who was so motivating and driven she truly inspired me.

A friend had referred me to a Fitness Model/ Trainer who needed a makeup artist for an upcoming photo shoot. After corresponding via email for a few days we discussed all the details and she decided to work with me. Now this being my first "fitness model" photo shoot I needed to do my research on the type of look we were going for.
Now when I think fitness model/trainer I think natural, fit and glowing. I found some looks that I thought my client would like and emailed her my ideas. She loved them. Her excitement and enthusiasm was flowing through her words and I was eating them up, and my excitement grew and grew for this project.

The day had come and when I met my client in person she was just as bubbly and full of life as her emails. Her friendliness and energy was inspiring and contagious. After hearing all about her journey to have a "clean" lifestyle, her goal to become a fitness competitor and how she was already a certified trainer... all I could think was...... AMAZING! So driven and determined, I loved it. Even though we work in different fields, I was able to totally understand her wants to better herself and others around her! I was so happy to work with her and help her translate that inner beauty into the already beautiful woman she is. We went with natural/healthy/glowing look for a few shots and then amped up her look for a bit more drama and VaVaVoom. She looked amazing and you could tell she felt that way too. Well deserved day of pampering and feeling like a model, she earned it. So to my client, Get it Girl and keep working it!
Austin Heckman of Freedom Still Photography was the great photographer that I had the pleasure of working with that day. Watching him work with my client and guide her to showcase all her hard work was a true gift. The passion he has for what he does is 100% shown in his work.

I hope you enjoy my work and if you have any questions about products please feel free to contact me!!!

Hopefully Spring is around the Corner...

As an East Coaster, this weather is starting to take a toll, and with no tropical vacation in site.... my getaway is through the vibrant colors of Spring Time makeup.

With amazingly pigmented colors and shades upon shades of glosses, shadows, blushes and eyeliners... Spring has Sprung.

Drug store brands are great for a girl on a budget and also very convenient, . Here are a few trends I think will help to brighten those winter blues, I don't recommend wearing all these trends together. Pick one that you think you can wear, and by wear I mean strut ....  Life Is A Runway
show everyone what you've got
& never let them see you fall...

Big and Bold is the theme...
Orange lips are sure to pop and turn heads... with a satiny finish and super hydrating these new elixirs will rock your world and you won't even have to pick up your chap stick for the rest of the day...
Bold and beautiful: Orange

Emerald Green is the spring time sexy statement to make on your eyes. It reminds us that the green leaves are making a comeback and the snow is on its way out...  with Emerald Green, yellows, electrics blues, and violet pinks will also make an impact on the next season to come... This Palette is perfect and great for the woman on the go.... Emerald City of color

I know a cat eye with black liner is an oldie but a goody, but a cat eye with a bright color will help you hit the streets in style.... use these vivacious liners to brighten your eyes, affordable and similar to a liquid liner, you can buy as many as you need to match your spring accessories... Powerful and to the Point

Could those rosey cheeks of winter need a little warmth? Smooth pinks and corals will help bronze those apples just in time for the sun to shine a little more. With your skin still recovering from the harsh winter conditions cream blushes are to your rescue... Soft and Subtle

Make up makes me happy and I share my smiles with you...

Obsession at an early age...

In the 6th grade I remember telling my mom how I hated my pale skin. Not knowing that in reality what my mother saw was porcelain and a border line perfect complexion. But taking my complaints to heart she drove down the local drug store and purchased me two things. These two things, looking back are what started up my obsession with the wonderful world of makeup.
A CoverGirl powder foundation compact in light/fair, and a small blush compact in  light rose pink.
LIFE CHANGERS!
She taught me how to apply the foundation with the small sponge it came with, a little on my forehead, around my nose, mouth and on my chin (the T-zone). And then how to concentrate the small blush brush on the apples of my cheeks for just a hint of color. Other than the makeup that was caked on my face when I was younger for Ice Shows, this was the first makeup that was mine that I wore on a daily basis.
Those two small packages were my world... I carried them with me everywhere, like Linus with his blanket.
Now some might think that 6th grade might be a little young but it was just enough product to boost my confidence to a whole nother level. Never leaving home with either of these from then on.
I got my first black pencil eye liner my senior year.... right around Halloween, again a CoverGirl product in "black" that my mom had bought at the same drug store.
From then on I had my signature look through the rest of high school and in college start broadening my horizon with products...
I think for the most part every woman remembers their first makeup experience: what brand, the product, the colors and shades, who bought it or if we saved enough money to buy ourselves... and from that moment, game over... we have all been hooked since.

What started it all...
